Washington DC's Capital Food Fight 2008 is a unique and exemplary event that revolves around culinary arts. It’s organized by DC Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization with the mission of fighting hunger, changing lives, and providing opportunities.
DC Central Kitchen, as its name emphasizes, is a central kitchen that improves the world of gastronomy. Some of its programs involves recycling, transformation of unused food, and preparation of food for all in need. Additionally, it maintains an admirable educational standard because it offers a Culinary Training Program, employs many, as well as leads volunteering programs that inspire communities to get involve.
Other than being a battle between Top Chefs, Capital Food Fight is a fundraiser event for DC Central Kitchen. This year the battle took place on November 11 at the Ronald Reagan Building, with the participation and support of more than 40 local restaurants, Top Chefs, 4 judges, journalists, TV stars, and guests that enjoyed an unforgettable night, where creativity and compromise to fighting hunger, shined everywhere. 
Executive Chefs and Sous Chefs from restaurants such as Citronelle, Oval Room, PS7, and Hook participated. The night was strictly organized in 4 battles of 10 minutes each, with specific secret ingredients. In between each battle, live auctions took place such as: overnights at resorts and hotels, dinning at recognized restaurants, culinary art training, and a one year of free gastronomy at 13 restaurants for 5 guests.
The Battle was trully unique because of its mission; many waited long to make it a reality, not only members of DC Central Kitchen, but Chefs and guests. The Champion of the 2008 Battle was Barton Seaver, Champion of the 2007, who battled against Peter Smith, finalist of the night. Chef Seaver is very respected in the city because of his initiatives of sustainability, especially those affecting seafood. 
Capital Food Fight 2008 touched the hearts of many, it demonstrated the power of gastronomy, and its great capacity of changing lives.

Capital Food Fight 2008 en Washington DC, la Batalla de la Capital 2008, es un evento único y ejemplar que gira alrededor del arte culinario. Ésta es organizada por DC Central Kitchen, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que fue creada con la misión de combatir hambre, cambiar vidas, y brindar oportunidades para muchos.
DC Central Kitchen, como su nombre enfatiza, es una cocina central que mejora el mundo gastronómico. Algunos de sus programas incluyen reciclaje, transformación de comida desperdiciada, y preparación de comida para todos los necesitados. Adicionalmente, mantiene un estándar educativo admirable porque ofrece un Programa de Entrenamiento Culinario, emplea a muchos, y lidera un voluntariado que inspira a comunidades a involucrarse.
Capital Food Fight 2008 además de ser una competencia entre Chefs Importantes, es un evento que recauda fondos para DC Central Kitchen. Este año la batalla se llevó acabo el 11 de Noviembre en el Edificio Ronald Reagan, con la participación y apoyo de más de 40 restaurantes locales, Chefs importantes, 4 jueces, periodistas, personajes de televisión, e invitados que vivieron una noche inolvidable, en donde brilló la creatividad y el compromiso de combatir hambre.
Participaron Chefs Ejecutivos y Sous Chefs de restaurantes como Citronelle, Oval Room, PS7, y Hook. La noche estuvo organizada estrictamente en 4 batallas de 10 minutos cada una, con sus respectivos ingredientes secretos. Entre cada batalla hubo varias subastas en vivo como: hospedajes en resorts y hoteles, cenas en restaurantes reconocidos, entrenamiento de culinaria, y un año gratis de gastronomía en 13 restaurantes para 5 invitados.
La Batalla fue realmente única por su misión; muchos esperaron bastante para hacerla realidad, no solo miembros de DC Central Kitchen, sino también Chefs e invitados. El Campeón de la Batalla 2008 fue Barton Seaver, Campeón del 2007, quien batalló en contra de Peter Smith, finalista de la noche. Chef Seaver es muy respetado en la ciudad por sus iniciativas de sostenibilidad, especialmente aquellas que afectan la comida de mar.
Capital Food Fight 2008 tocó el corazón de muchos porque demostró el potencial de la gastronomía, y su gran capacidad de cambiar vidas.
